Annual Conference/National Meetings

16th Annual HELP Conference 2018

The 16th Annual HELP Conference took place on May 2nd, a pre-conference day at the American Geriatrics Society 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting, in Orlando, FL. The Conference was jointly sponsored by The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) and the American Geriatrics Society. Highlights from the 2018 Conference included a live demonstration of HELP patient enrollment procedures, a talk from Dr. Mark Supiano at the University of Utah HELP Center of Excellence on how their team has improved adherence to the non-pharmalogical sleep protocol, and a discussion of how to implement mobility interventions from HELP's founder Dr. Sharon Inouye. Dr. Inouye's discussion of the importance of early mobility for hospitalized older adults was continued into the American Geriatrics Society Annual Meeting later in the week, wherein she unveiled the new Mobility Change Package and Toolkit, a step-by-step guide to starting a mobility program that can include the use of volunteers.
