This editorial in JAGS highlights the importance of individualized acute care for cognitively impaired individuals. Dr. Sheckter et al discuss a need for a health systems-wide intervention to offer cognitively protective medical care which may mean considering hospitalization alternatives or, if hospitalization is necessary, making sure robust inpatient delirium prevention protocols such as HELP are the standard of care.
